Profile

I have been the Acting Headteacher for the past year and have been the Deputy Headteacher since 2004. I was previously an associate Governor and then became a Co-opted Governor in 2015.

It is a great privilege to work with all the staff and Governors at Orchard Lea Infant School. We work together as a team, just like a large family, supporting each other through the ups and downs of a school life. We enjoy encouraging and seeing the children gain confidence and progress to the best of their ability with the help of parental support.

I have also had my own children pass through this school as well as a Grandson. They have all enjoyed their time as this school.

I have been a Governor for 5 years and have been the Chair for 1.  I currently have a son in Year 1, but my two daughters have already been through the school so I have been involved with the school for the last 8 years.

I am very proud to be involved with such a great school. As a parent I enjoy being able to contribute to the running of a school who puts every child first, and whose staff are totally dedicated to ensuring the best outcomes for all the children whatever their ability, a school whose motto is

‘Happy to be learning, Learning to be happy’

Profile

Firstly, I am a mum of two boys, my eldest being in Year Two, which means I have a vested interest in the school being successful as he continues his journey through Key Stage 1. My youngest is about to begin Preschool and will hopefully follow in his footsteps. My son has had such a brilliant start here at Orchard Lea Infants, so I am proud to be working with a committed team providing a first class education.

I have been a full-time infant school teacher myself for 17 years so being in school is familiar to me. I have worked as an Early Years teacher in Reception and in Key Stage 1 in both infant and primary schools. I have thoroughly enjoyed my career as a class teacher and I am now in a fortunate position to be able to use my training and experiences with my own children and be able to offer a perspective as a parent and teacher to the governing body.

Profile
I joined the governing board in July 2017 after being inspired to join by our previous chair of governors, Phil Jones. Although sometimes it can be challenging. I find it very rewarding to help create an environment which allows the school teachers, and its leaders, to provide an outstanding experience to children early on in their education. I have a daughter who is currently in year 2.
